Re: The Red House
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 9:04 PMYes. Edward G. Robinson. I've been reading the book, "A Panorama of American Film Noir," by Borde and Chaumeton (English translation of the origninal French). They describe what we know as film noir as taking place primarily in a definitive period of time (1941-1953), describe the elements (oneiric, strange, ambivelant and cruel), and also describe the American cultural circumstances that made the films possible. Strangely, most film noir classics were b-movies, low budget, and shot mostly indoors.
