He Walked By Night :Superb low budget crime procedural from 1948 set in Los Angeles.We follow the cops chasing a cop killer who seems to always be one step ahead of them Look for a young Jack Webb in a supporting role.The movie has one of the best on foot chase sequences I have seen.Some of this seems real basic now- but the superb cinematography sets it apart.Worth renting or buying. A
