the Crooked Way : 1949 crime thriller about a GI who comes home with amnesia. His only link to the past- he enlisted in L.A. So he ventures back to the city of angels to slowly find out he was gangster and not a nice guy.If you like this premise- seek out Somewhere in the Night- basically the same premise- but with more finesse and a better cast(the 46 version was from Fox).Crooked Way is an ok crime thriller for it's day and age- but it has not aged well and seems like it was re-released to rope in folks like myself that are gobbling up the noir titles. The movie stars John Payne(likeable enough Virginian who also starred in Kansas City Confidential) and Sonny Tufts. It also has Percy Helton(from Crossover and many other movies) as Petey.
